  2. Promoting Behaviors that Reduce Spread
  3. Maintaining Healthy Environments

A./ Rooted Tree Productions Guiding Principles

  • Students will be placed in a cohort of 12 students or less, they will remain in their cohort throughout the entire day.
  • During instructional activities, students will be placed six feet apart. Spacing will be controlled by the use of polyspots.

  • When appropriate instructional activities will take place outside.
  • Each Student will be required to supply their own art supply box. Content list to include: (Scissors, Glue, 8 pack color markers…. Plastic art box with students name that can be sanitized each day.)

B./ Rooted Tree Productions will promote the following behaviors to reduce the spread

Staying Home When Appropriate

    • Mandatory Training will take place to educate staff, campers, and their families about when they should stay home and when they can return to camp.
    • Rooted Tree faculty and campers will be asked the CDC camp screening questions prior to admittance to camp each day.
    • All instructors and all campers will have their temperature taken prior to entering the building.
    • Any instructor or camper with a fever of 100.3 will not be permitted to attend camp that day.

Hand Hygiene and Respiratory Etiquette

    • Teach and reinforce handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and increase monitoring to ensure adherence among campers and staff.
      • If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer).
    • Encourage staff and campers to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Used tissues should be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
      • If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol can be used (for staff and older campers who can safely use hand sanitizer).

Cloth Face Coverings

  • All Rooted Tree Staff will wear cloth face-covering throughout the day during all indoor instruction. The use of face coverings will be used outside if social distancing is not possible.

Adequate Supplies

    • Rooted Tree will provide hand sanitizing stations in each instructional location as well as the cafeteria.
    • Each instructional session will conclude with hand sanitizing.
    • Prior to eating all faculty and campers will have access to the handwashing stations as well as hand sanitizer.
    • Rooted Tree has requested that each camper attends camp with a small bottle of personal hand sanitizer to keep in their bag.

Signs and Messages

  • Rooted Tree will post signs throughout our facility that promote proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette. These signs will be posted at our entrance, in our instructional rooms, in the cafeteria, and in the bathroom.
  • Proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette will be reviewed at the start of each day.
  • The signs that we post have been approved and provided by the CDC.

C/ Rooted Tree Productions will follow the following guidelines to Maintain a Healthy Environment

Cleaning and Disinfection

    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces (e.g., playground equipment, door handles, sink handles, drinking fountains) within the camp facility. Rooted Tree Productions will be disinfecting surfaces at the end of each instructional session.
    • Use of shared objects (e.g., art supplies, toys, games) should be limited when possible or cleaned between use.
      • Each family will provide an art box in a plastic pencil box that will be disinfected after each art class. The pencil case will contain the basics. Colored Markers, Glue, Scissors. The art boxes will remain at Rooted Tree throughout the course of the camp. Rooted Tree will provide individual materials for each daily art project.
      • Students will not be sharing any objects during outdoor activities. Rooted Tree will provide enough objects so that each member of the cohort will have individualized materials. These materials will be sanitized at the end of each instructional session.
    • Ensure safe and correct use and storage of cleaners and disinfectants, including storing products securely away from children. Use products that meet EPA disinfection criteria.
    • Cleaning products should not be used near children, and staff should ensure that there is adequate ventilation when using these products to prevent children or themselves from inhaling toxic fumes.
    • Use gloves when removing garbage bags or handling and disposing of trash. Wash hands after removing gloves.

Shared Objects

    • Discourage the sharing of items that are difficult to clean, sanitize, or disinfect.
    • Keep each camper’s belongings separated from others’ and in individually labeled containers, cubbies, or areas.
    • Ensure adequate supplies to minimize the sharing of high-touch materials to the extent possible (e.g., assign art supplies or other equipment to a single camper), or limit use of supplies and equipment to one group of campers at a time and clean and disinfect between use.
    • Avoid sharing electronic devices, toys, books, and other games or learning aids.

Ventilation

    • Ensure ventilation systems operate properly and increase the circulation of outdoor air as much as possible, for example by opening windows and doors. Do not open windows and doors if doing so poses a safety or health risk (e.g., risk of falling or triggering asthma symptoms) to campers using the facility.

Water Systems

    • Rooted Tree Productions is requesting that each camper arrives at camp each day with TWO labeled water bottles.
    • We will not be using water fountains.
    • Additional bottled water will be provided to campers as needed by Rooted Tree.

Physical Barriers and Guides

    • Rooted Tree will provide physical guides, such as tape on floors or sidewalks and signs on walls, to ensure that staff and campers remain at least 6 feet apart in lines and at other times (e.g., guides for creating “one-way routes” in hallways).

Communal Spaces

    • Close shared spaces such as dining halls and playgrounds with shared playground equipment, if possible; otherwise, stagger use and clean and disinfect between use.
